The National Flute Association will again sponsor a Flute Choir Composition Competition this year. This composition is for composers who write works for flute choir/flute orchestra. The winning composer will be awarded a $2,000 cash prize and their composition will be premiered by the NFA High School Flute Choir during the 2017 NFA Convention in Minneapolis. The piece must be an original piece that has not yet been premiered. Applications are due February 10, 2017.
Compositions may be a maximum of twelve minutes and must include a minimum of six parts, including any combination of instrumentation of piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute, and optional contrabass flute. The winning publication will also be displayed in the exhibit hall during the convention and deposited in the NFA Music Library at the University of Arizona.
