    2009 DuoSolo Emerging Composer Competition

    DuoSolo | Mary Kirkendoll, flute ~ Michael Kirkendoll, piano

    eligibility: composers age 35 and under as of September 1, 2008

    application fee: none

    dates: accepting scores until April 1, 2009 (postmark)

    finalists will be notified no later than April 21, 2009

    winner will be announced no later than June 1, 2009

    prizes: $500

    premiere performance by DuoSolo during the 2009-2010

    season professional quality CD recording

    inclusion on DuoSoloÂ’s first commercial recording (date TBD)

    requirements: Interested composers should submit the full score for a new work for flute/piano duo in full score with parts. Scores may be submitted via email as .pdf files or sent through standard mail directly to DuoSolo. All works should be a minimum of 8 minutes in length, and there is no maximum time limit. Composers may specify whether multiple movement pieces must be performed in their entirety or if movements may be performed separately. Individual composerÂ’s may submit up to three (3) different scores. Finalists will be asked to submit three (3) hard copies of their piece for final adjudication.

    Submissions should be emailed to duosolo@duosolo.com with the subject “Emerging Composer Submission.” If you wish to submit scores through the mail, please send them to
