Instrumentation: solo marimba, 5-octaves: C2 to C7 (with optional ossia for 4.3-octave marimba: A2 to C7). No additional instruments may be included.

Twelve winning compositions will be published in a two-volume set alongside the twelve works generated through ZMF New Music’s Commissioning Project.
Entries will be accepted until June 1, 2008. All submissions selected as finalists will be reviewed by ZMF’s faculty and participants at our annual festivals in 2007 and 2008. This will offer an invaluable learning experience for the participants, and significant exposure for each composer.
The contest is open to composers of all ages. Complete contest guidelines and instructions for submitting your piece follow.
