Hey Alex. Good to have you here. Hopefully we’ll have more people posting in here soon.

I think a good idea would be starting a film-scoring project of your own. Maybe you already have a friend that’s into filmmaking or you could try and meet people at a film school near your area (or wherever they offer any type of film classes, like history of film, film appreciation, etc). By doing this you would be not only gaining practical experience but, you would have a final product that you could show to people and this could lead to other opportunities (you could send it to competitions to try and get some exposure). Maybe someone sees your project and thinks your music is great and recommends your work to others, etc.

Another good idea I think would be going to film scoring school somewhere. This is a good way of knowing other people that have your same interests. In school you will meet people that are already working in the real world, and if they like what you do, they can refer you to other people, etc (itÂ’s always about knowing people). It seems that now a days you need a degree for everything, so having one will definitely not hurt. Although in the end it’s what you do and not what a paper says you can do that counts.

It looks like you are already trying to do something about it. I see you have a website and you offer your services and have samples of your work. I think that’s a great way to start (I liked the video clip you have there by the way). What better than the Internet where anyone from anywhere can see your stuff!

Hopefully we’ll get some filmmakers in here as well and start making some connections (hey, maybe joining a film making forum could be another idea).

    I hope this helps.

Somebody else in here wants to give advice?

Well. I finally got a newer version of Finale, so this is not a problem for me anymore. I got Sibelius as well, and I think I will not be using Finale for a while, I kind of got tired of it. But who knows, maybe I’ll get tired of Sibelius as well and go back to using Finale again. I’m open to using other notation programs so if anybody has tried a different one, let me know how that’s working for you… :-? I will start a thread in the software section for this.
